The Chris Cave Foundation is proud to announce an inspiring initiative to bring a permanent remembrance statue to our community. This unique and heartfelt tribute will be situated in the serene surroundings of Cavey’s Cabin at Locke Park, serving as a beacon of hope, resilience, and unity.
While the final name and design of the statue are being kept under wraps until a special unveiling ceremony, we are excited to share that the esteemed artist Alfie Bradley has been commissioned to create this remarkable piece. Known for his transformative and impactful work, Alfie will craft the statue from knives that have been seized or surrendered during knife amnesties across England, turning instruments of violence into a powerful symbol of peace and remembrance.
The statue will embody a poignant reminder of the lives tragically taken through murder and manslaughter, promoting a message of love over violence. It aims to be not just a memorial, but a central part of our community that brings together families, fosters learning and growth, and encourages reflection and healing.
Currently, The Chris Cave Foundation is actively working to secure the necessary funding to bring this vision to life. We believe that this will stand as the ultimate tribute of love to all who have been lost, underscoring our community’s stance against violence and commemorating the memories of those we hold dear.
Theresa Cave, Founder of The Chris Cave Foundation, shared her thoughts on the project: “We are embarking on a journey to create something truly transformative for Redcar. This statue will be more than just a statue; it will be a sanctuary for reflection, a lesson in resilience, and a declaration of our unwavering love. I am thrilled to be working with Alfie Bradley, whose vision aligns so perfectly with our mission. This will be a centrepiece for our community, reminding us of the preciousness of life and the power of collective remembrance.”
As we move forward with this heartfelt project, we invite the community and supporters to join us in making this project a reality. Together, we can create a lasting legacy that honours the past while building towards a future of peace and understanding.
